The T.I.S.-Territorial Information System (S.I.T.-Sistema Informativo Territoriale)
The employment of a T.I.S.-Territorial Information System as a support for the entire planning process ensures that all decision-making processes are rapidly and effectively carried out, allowing to:
1. Gather, summarize and organize a large amount of information having territorial relevance and originating from many different sources
2. Obtain some new data by matching the existing ones in a different way
3. Select the data which the planner holds as essential in view of hitting a specific target, quickly and effectively providing the results obtained both graphically and as charts, even referring to a number of different scenarios
4. Easily checking that plans and projects are suitable for the territory, with its peculiar features
In view of the above, the starting point for all T.I.S-related activities is the existence of a geographical database inspired by a common logic and aiming at standardization.
The T.I.S. will be realized during the 2006-2007 period.
